How much does timber or parquet flooring cost in Puchong?

Prices vary widely by material. As a rough guide, engineered wood and basic parquet start at around RM15 to RM30 per square foot installed, while solid hardwood such as chengal or balau can run well above that. Sanding and re-coating an existing floor usually costs much less than new installation. Get at least three itemised quotes.

How often does a timber floor need refinishing?

In a typical home, a solid timber floor needs re-coating every 5 to 10 years, depending on foot traffic and finish type. Engineered wood with a thin top layer can usually be sanded only once or twice, so check the wear layer thickness.

How long does installation take?

A standard apartment or terrace ground floor usually takes two to five days once the timber has acclimatised and the subfloor is ready. Sanding and coating add several days for drying between coats.

How can I judge the quality of a flooring contractor?

Ask to see finished jobs, check for even gaps, no hollow sounds and a smooth coating. Confirm the warranty in writing and read recent reviews for comments on after-sales service.

Parquet & Timber Flooring in Puchong

Compare 13 parquet and timber flooring contractors in Puchong. What the work involves, what to check before hiring, and how our scoring ranks them.

What parquet and timber flooring work involves

Parquet and timber jobs cover supply and installation of solid timber, engineered wood and patterned parquet, plus sanding, re-coating and repair of floors already down. In Puchong that often means terrace houses and condos in humid conditions, where moisture is the main thing that can go wrong.

What to look for

Subfloor preparation: the contractor should check that the screed is level and dry before laying anything.
Timber species and grade: ask what is being supplied, whether it is kiln-dried, and see a physical sample.
Expansion gaps and acclimatisation: good installers leave room at the edges and let timber settle on site first.
Finish: ask about the sanding stages, the type of coating and the curing time before furniture goes back.
Written quote: it should state the area, materials, wastage allowance and warranty.
